Allegra
Allegra is an antihistamine drug which is typically used in the treatment of
hay fever and other similar allergy symptoms (neezing, runny nose, itching,
watering of the eyes etc.). The generic name for Allegra is Fexofenadine hydrochloride.
Types of Allegra
Allegra Fexofenadine HCl - typically used for relief of seasonal allergy
symptoms (sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, palate, and throat, and itchy, watery,
red eyes etc.). It is available in three dosage strengths - 180 mg, 60 mg and
30 mg (for kids).
Allegra Fexofenadine HCl Oral Suspension - specially formulated for children
and available in cream colored and berry flavor. Allegra Oral Suspension may
be used to treat the symptoms of seasonal allergies in children ages 2 to 11
years, and the symptoms of chronic hives in children as young as 6 months to
11 years. It is non-sedating and will not make your child drowsy or sleepy (unlike
many other allergy medications).
Allegra-D 12 Hour - combines Allegra with a powerful decongestant to
provide relief of seasonal allergy symptoms, including congestion. As the name
implies, one dose lasts a full 12 hours. Allegra-D 12 Hour is non-sedating,
so it will not make you drowsy.
Allegra-D 24 Hour - combines Allegra with a powerful decongestant to
provide relief of seasonal allergy symptoms, including congestion for a full
24 hours. Allegra-D 24 Hour is also nondrowsy.
Allegra Interactions
In controlled clinical studies, there were no interactions with other drugs
that significantly affected the safety or effectiveness of fexofenadine. Take
Allegra exactly as directed and if you do not understand these instructions,
ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
