Vioxx Dosage

Vioxx must always be taken as instructed by a doctor, and it may be taken with or without food. If taking the oral suspension, it should be thoroughly shaken before each use. If you happen to miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is however almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed, and go back to your regular schedule. Never take two doses of Vioxx at the same time.

A patient's Vioxx dosage will be dependent on a number of factors, most important of which is the condition for which it has been prescribed to treat. Below we outline some recommended Vioxx dosages that are specific to certain conditions. In all situations, it is not recommended that you take more than the dosage prescribed by your doctor.

Vioxx dosage for Osteoarthritis
The usual starting dose is 12.5 milligrams (mg), once daily. If necessary, the doctor may increase the dosage up to a maximum of 25 mg once daily.

Vioxx dosage for Rheumatoid Arthritis
The recommended dosage is 25 mg, taken once daily.

Vioxx dosage for Acute Pain and Dysmenorrhea
The recommended dosage for these conditions is 50 mg once daily as needed, for no more than 5 days. Taking this much on a regular basis is definitely not recommended.

The Vioxx dosage outlines we have given should be superseded in all cases by the prescribed dosage given by a doctor that is familiar with the patient's own body dynamics and case specifics.
